WRT (Warfare Rapid Taskforce) [Old Name]
The Legion of Quick Suppression (LQS) is Wieglington's elite tactical unit, serving a dual role as both a military force and a special police force. The unit originated as the Warfare Rapid Taskforce (WRT), which had historically performed both urban policing and military operations. During a previous large-scale war, this combined structure proved highly efficient, and the model was maintained after the war due to the ongoing need for rapid response to internal and external threats.
Wieglington experienced periods of unusually high crime and civil unrest. In response, WRT was granted authority to maintain public order and enforce state security, creating a unique structure where a military unit also carried out domestic policing responsibilities under the principle that national safety is paramount.
WRT's history was marked by corruption and misuse of its powers, leading to internal uprisings within the military and widespread public backlash. Following these crises, the unit was reorganized under a new commander, Lacquer, and renamed LQS.
After its reformation, LQS implemented transparent oversight mechanisms to rebuild trust with the citizenry, yet the unit remained a formidable and fearsome presence in Wieglington, both respected and feared by the public.
